The foal doesn't have a name yet, but I'm sure she'll tell us soon what it is to be. Here she is shown at 6 hours of age! It's amazing how vigorous and active these babies are at such a young age. I thought the Icelandic lambs were quick to move about, but the way this baby follows her mother, runs, kicks up her heels and jumps is quite a sight! We've been told to handle the baby often to make her gentle and used to humans, so with two children around, and a "Papa" who is just as excited as the kids, I don't think that's going to be a problem!
Well, she has a name now - our baby Sara (named after our favorite ewe) is growing big and strong and is absolutely a heart warmer. Everyone who visits gets to pet this loving jennet. Shown below, Sara shows off what a big girl she is now - and she's even learned to roll and dust herself (one month of age)
