Ok, I have a confession to make...I do have a favorite in the flock. Sometimes, some of these lambs just stand out as superior right from the start and in this case, I wish you could see him in person. The Dreitillson is gorgeous. He makes all the other rams look just average... it's really not fair. It's like if the rest of us had to stand in a room with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie... no matter how good we look, we will pale in comparison.
I am so struck by this ram lamb's size and conformation so early on that I took these photos of him at 14 days of age. I also weighed him and he already weighs 22 lbs. His mother is outstanding and so protective that we turn circles to get photos of him. When she sees me with the camera, she block him by circling between me and the lamb! She also has always tucked him up on the porch of our old grainery to keep him out of the rain or the sun. So he has become the "porch lamb" and he's usually there when not following Viola around.
