April 23 We'll forgive the single this year, since she gave us a EWE lamb (and twinned last year as a yearling in June). Maggie had a solid black ewe lamb out of Rubus. She weighed 8 1/4 lbs. What a nice surprise to find on a warm sunny afternoon. Thank you Maggie!

April 25 In the driving rain and thunderstorm this morning, I almost missed this new lamb. Elska had lambed early a.m.on pasture and I scanned as the sheep were coming in for shelter from the sudden shower and noticed a ewe circling a smaller looking black lamb and realized it was Elska with a newborn. He weighed 7 1/2 lbs. This is our first lamb out of LF235T. Awesome genetics for fleece and also meat & milkiness: Peli, Tuli, and Abel!

April 25 The reason we love LONG bodied ewes, is because they can carry their lambs lengthwise, and they sometimes don't even look pregnant. Well, Bianca sure surprised me with triplet EWE lambs today! I figured there were twins, but never dreamt there were three lambs. The first white lamb (with heavy phaeomelanin on her legs) weighed 5 3/4 lbs. The 2nd white lamb weighed 6 lbs. and the moorit/grey ewe lamb weighed 7 lbs. The moorit/grey ewe lamb, now named "Ida Bean" will of course, stay in the flock. Their sire is Mangoson, and these are his first lambs for us. Now I know he carries moorit and grey. YEAH Bianca!

April 26 Wow! A beautiful large 10 lb. ewe lamb out of Maureen and the Tyrson this year. Since this is the only daughter out of both of them, I need to keep this lamb. The size and breadth of Maureen, especially her very good rump and leg, should prove to be an awesome combination with the magnificent chest and shoulders and length of the Tyrson. Although Maureen seems to be a "slow starter" in the prolificacy department, if she can lamb a 10 lb. baby unassisted, she certainly has earned her keep this year. She's a great mom, stomping her feet at me and glaring at me, while I was trying to take photos of her daughter!
