A note about pastures. The photos above were taken on May 15th of our pastures after having sheep on them for 6 years. The pasture at right is our new acreage across the streeet (Papa's Farm) and you can see how an unimproved acreage is vastly different in quality than one that has been improved. These photos were taken on the same day and you can see the difference in green-ness and lushness. I can only let my sheep out for 1 1/2 hours at a time 3x per day because of the lushness of our fields (to reduce risk of bloat), whereas at Papa's Farm, the sheep are grazing free choice all day long now, but that field is barely green yet.
